I put some energizer AAA baterries in the camerai just bought the 14890 talking camera but it does not power on the only way it powers on is if i plug the usb to my laptop...how can i get it to work on the bateeries
I would recommend you try Energizer Lithium or Duracell M3 batteries.
This camera is noted for its high drain of "ordinary alkaline" batteries (see toysr'us customer comment below).
Also note that the memory is a constant charge flash memory - meaning no battery current = no pics (you lose the lot).
Another happy customer - NOT ..... She used it for three pictures, set it down, the auto-shutoff enabled (which is great because the batteries aren't rechargable) and the darn thing wouldn't come back on. We switched out the batteries (tried them in a flashlight and they were drained!) and it powered on, however her pictures were gone. After reading the troubleshooting section of the manual, we discovered the flash memory requires a constant charge, so if the batteries die (which they did again about 10 minutes later) all the pics are lost. Come on! How reasonable is it to have to sync the camera with the computer and save pictures every ten minutes?!
