Your problem may be in your input rca connections not getting proper contact or in the wrong way , if the input is not rca lead and is hi end input,as in wireing off the back of your head unit to the amp it may be a short in the wireing, you will need to check all your wiring if so, also make sure all your earth leads are clean and are big enough to take the amp size.
