John, Need to replace the developer and the drum. Ensure that the counters for the developer and drum are cleared first (in service mode) before pulling the image unit out (Right side of machine) then take the image unit a part replace the developer, cleaning blade and drum. DO NOT USE A VACUUM Cleaner to remove the developer, because static electricty from the Vacuum cleaner can destroy the sensor located below the image unit, which is what is giving you the code. but you should change the developer and drum first. After that you run the F 8 procedure in service mode. Ensure the FAX and printer cables are removed do not want a Print job or fax to come in before running the F 8 or you will start over with a new developer. If you think you can do all this GO for it, if not get a tech out to do it.
AND NO JUST RESETTING THE COUNTERS WILL NOT WORK!!!! The machine use the counters to determine the correct voltages to certain assemblies. If you reset the counters that tell the copier parts are new when in fact they are old and you get codes and image issues.
