The shaft may be worn down by the old seal and it wont work with a new seal because of the size change. Are you sure that you have the timing set right? Also did you remove the crank sensor or the crank sensor wires?
If you put the seal in crooked, that would cause a leak. They have to be driven in with seal drivers. In oder to do all this if you had to take the timing chain off then there could be issues with tiiming of valves etc.If you put the seal in crooked, that would cause a leak. I am not sure what bearings you are talking about. The bearing on crank are smashed and bad? If that is the case then there is something called run out at the end of the shaft and that is why it is leaking. You essentially have a wobble because the bearing is shot. This is a major overhaul now. YOu will have to pull the engine and take it apart and replace the main bearings on the crank shaft.I am not sure what bearings you are talking about.
