The magic focus is really only an accessory--if you are getting one or these errors it means the DCU (digital convergence unit) which stores all the adjustments is either full or had been adjusted too many times.
You have two choices:
One: in the DCAM mode you can completely erase the set's convergence memory---then the set will have to be adjusted from scratch---depending on model number I have the Hitachi book which shows how to do this---not a good idea unless you are really familiar with this set.
Two: enter the DCAM mode manually by depressing the micro switch on the front of the chassis and adjust the convergence ALL OVER THE SCREEN and save it--all this is done with the original remote and is not difficult.
The only thing you will be missing here is the Magic Focus--since it only adjusts at about sixteen points on the screen it is not a problem--In the DCAM mode you will be adjusting convergence at over 100 points--you always get better results that way.
Let me know the model number and if you have questions I am here to help.
