If it's like my model, remove the top cover of the base unit (surrounds the hose connector), remove the drive belt underneath, remove the upright unit from the top of the motor housing. Hopefully, now the motor is just sitting there held by the swivel mounts. Using just your hands, pull back on the motor while pushing the housing away from it on the drive shaft side. This will allow the drive shaft to come free from the housing and the motor will then lift free.
