I thought that once I installed the Netgear I would have an icon in my system tray showing the strength of the available wireless connection. My computer is running Windows XP. How do I get that icon in my system tray? Thank you for your assistance!

On each computer that has a wireless connection to the internet through your router you can enable the status icons as follows: Click on Start and Control Panel. Verify that Control Panel is in the "Classic Mode" Double click on "Network Connections" Right click on your Wireless Network Connection Click on Properties At the bottom of the "general Tab" in the Wireless Networks dialog box, place check marks in: "Show icon in notification are when connected" "Notify me when this connection has limited or no capability" Then Click on OK and exit Control Panel. The following steps went just fine: On each computer that has a wireless connection to the internet through your router you can enable the status icons as follows: Click on Start and Control Panel. Verify that Control Panel is in the "Classic Mode" Double click on "Network Connections" ================================================== Then I got stuck because I couldn't find a"Wireless Network Connection" to double click. I had previusly tried to "Set up a home or small office network" (without a flash drive, so I printed the wireless network settings as instructed) because I thought that would create the "Wireless Network Connection" I need to find now, but I guess I was wrong.
This shouldn't be so difficult!!! Now what do I do?

I did not realize that you had not been able to "Setup a home or small office network". In order do do this, first verify that the wireless feature in your router was enabled during router setup - If it is enabled, the green Wireless indicator on the front of your router will be on. Next you need to verify that a wireless network adaptor in installed and working on the wireless computer(s) that are are going to be part of your network. You can do this by opening Device Manager, Clicking on Network Adaptors and double clicking on the wireless adaptor (which should be listed if you have one installed). Is all of the above OK?? If all is OK at this point you should be able to use the wireless network setup wizard in Control Panel to set up your network and connect to the internet through your routers. If you are having problems doing any of this, I recommend that you use the chat or phone support features offered by FixYa to resolve your problem as several (back and forth) questions and responses wil probably be required to get your network connected.
