I traded for a Gibson les paul custom guitar with the serial number 02005558 and "made in the usa" engraved in the back of headstock. My buddy is questioning it. Is it real or a fake(china knock-off)?

You'll have to contact Gibson for that directly, they keep those numbers fairly secret so only they know the real ones.
