I tried to replace my thermostat with a reprogrammable one and it didn't work. I reinstalled the old thermostat and it will not even read a temp or show any signs of life. Can you help me?

It makes a difference if you have elect or gas. you have to use a thermostat specific for your application. also it is possible the you burnt out the heat anticipator.
