Snow on the screen is never a result of the antenna orientation. The antenna could be hit by a meteorite, the receiver would still be on, putting a message on the screen mentioning, "Complete Signal Loss." If there is any problem in the system, short of the receiver being unplugged, a message will appear onscreen. So, with no message on the screen, it can only be that the TV is on the wrong input. Make sure there is a cable of some sort connecting the receiver and the TV, then use the TV's input button to slowly change the inputs. When you get to a screen that shows your programming, stop and make a note of which input you are on. This happens a lot when someone changes the input on the TV to watch a DVD or play a game, or when someone uses the wrong remote. Remember to use your DISH remote, and to hit the SAT button at the top to ensure your remote is changing channels on the receiver, not inputs on your TV.

Check the input cable to dish box for firmness and the orientation of the dish.
