I updated my Nividia GeForce X40 graphic card through the manufactur after windows said they didn't have anything newer, 1 month later windows came and updated it and now my screen is jarbled and missing half of the color. I was able to do a system restore and fixed it but my roommate let windows update it again and now it won't let me do a system restore and won't let me manually change the settings for the color. It went from a 32 bit to a 4 bit. What can I do?

Well u have to uninstall the Display driver and then reinstall the old one that was working but ist fix the windows in repair mode while installing windows. some of the files are been updated that wont allow the driver to work. fixing the windows in repair allow you to load the old files again automatically.
