I WANT TO CONNECT TWO APC UPS 700 VA UNITS TO SINGLE 24 VOLT BATTERY. BY DOING THIS MY INTENTION IS TO CHARGE THER BATTERIES RAPIDLY WHEN THE ELECTRIC SUPPLY IS RESTORED. IS IT POSSIBLE TO CONNECT TWO UPSs IN PARALLEL TO A SINGLE BATTERY
Computers & Internet - APC - Smart-UPS 1000VA UPS System
You can't just charge batteries faster by giving them more power. You will likely blow up the batteries as they get hot due to the charging process. I agree completely with 12fixlouie, get a unit with more reserve capacity. You could get a spare set of batteries that you have on a "battery maintainer" (float charger) and then swap the batteries to get more time. Some units even allow this while on battery power (hot swappable). If the batteries could be SAFELY charged any faster be sure APC would have done it to make a better product ($$$).
Waheed70, NO!!!! NO!!! NO!!! DO NOT EVEN THINK OF DOING THAT!!! You may cause catastrophic failure to not one but both APC ups units and will void any warranty you might have!!! If you are in need of longer run time on battery back-up, then start looking into buying an "ONLINE" ups system somewhere in the 5 to 10 kva range. Check out "chloride" systems and "powervar" and "toshiba" and "ONEAC" for info about "true online" battery back-up systems. Bye for now. 12fixlouie
