I want to powder coat the metal parts of the front and rear bumpers of a 2003 Hummer. How do you remove them? How many bolts should I be looking for and how do I separate the plastic parts from the metal parts without ruining the plastic fasteners? Or will I have to replace the fasteners after separating them? If so , where do I get them?
There are going to be only 4 to 6 bolts holding this together. Usually they are going to be 13 MM. To remove the plastic air dams and other plastics you will need to replace the plastic pop rivets unless you dont care that they arent 100%. The best way that i have found to take these out is to get a 45 degree needle nose pliers and slide the tip under and slowly pry the rivets out. IF you break a few you can order them from GM which sucks because they are expensive.
