I was looking to purchase a Kenmore french door refrigerator for $500. The owner says the motherboard is bad but that the fridge works great. This has me really confused for obvious and logical reasons. If the "brain" of the appliance is not working then by definition it cannot work "great" and can't be worth $500 right? I don't like getting ripped off

The owner didnt communicate properly.
The fridge worked until it didn't. Unless the owner has tested the unit with a replacement control board and confirmed that is the only issue, it's a guess.
Could be a bad compressor AND control board.
