I was rear ended and though no damage to the side, the outer gas lid was loosened. i understand there is no adjustment that can be made but then is there part that be replaced so the lid is tight and fish with the car?

When body work is completed the lid will again fit properly as the panel that holds the lid has been put out of shape in relation to the hinge position. If it does not fit properly then the repair job was not done prpoperly
