I was vacuuming with my DC28 Animal and all fo a sudden the beater bar stopped working and NONE of the floor mode buttons work.. no lights or anyhting. I checked for obstructions per the Dyson manua
This is a new machine although a dated model. I have only had it for 3 months or so. Filters are clean and there is nothing wrapped around the beater brush. The beater brush turns if you try to spin it manually. Seems to me the switches or some sort of control circuit has gone bad... no lights from the power or floor mode switches at all... no flashing or anything.

If no lights at all it could be a pcb needs replaced.
Check the wire connection that feeds that section. to make sure it is being supplied power. Since motor is also not working it has to be something they all have in common -POWER!
I have a similar issue, but the motor does turn on, and the wand/attachments work fine. Just the brush doesn't turn on its own and the buttons don't work.
Check the belt that powers the brush. Either it is off the pulley or it has stretched and is no longer any good.
