I was watching tv on tuesday morning when all of a sudden it completely shut down. It's done this before but has always retrieved power within minutes. It has almost been a week and still no response. Ive tried unplugging it from BOTH ends for a few hours and also swithing the switch next to the tv cord insert on and off several times. Any suggestions?

You have a power supply problem. If you are competent to delve into electricsl equipment, carry out the following, else get a tv engineer. Remove the back cover and inspect the power supply which is the board connected to the mains lead. Look at all the capacitors which are shown below.
Make sure that none of these have bulging tops which can be seen below. If any have, replace them.If they all seem ok, remove the board and inspect all solder joints under the board. If there are any dry or cracked solder joints, resolder. If everything seems ok at this point, you may have a faulty semiconductor on the power supply board. If you have no standby light at all, i would order a new power supply board.
