Idk I have an everx stepnote xt5000t and whenever i turn it on the screen doesnt display anything. i have taken to be seen and the tech said it needed a new motherboard. where can i find a replacement or an upgraded motherbaord for my laptop?
Www.ebay.ca or www.ebay.com If you bid on an item (get paypal or credit card) and you can get good prices but watch someone doesn't outbid you at the last 20 seconds. I don't think it's the motherboard unless issues are known for this model like the DV6000 and DV9000 and others that the video chip overheats (clean those cooling fans (take it apart!) You may have activated the external video is an F-key or Ctrl-?? or Alt-?? or simply a key on the laptop below the F-keys. to switch from external video to internal. Could be the back-light or the little driver-board to the back-light. Have it tested before ordering a new motherboard which could run anywhere from 150 to 300. plus for a machine 2 years old or less. Sometimes if is the video chip the mother board can be re-fluxed where you take a torch and heat the video chip - (you have to insulate around it and use a digital IR thermometer ) Use Google to learn how to re-flux a motherboard video - risky but may save you hundreds. Hook up an external monitor and reboot to check if is that switch. could simply be a broken wire in the hinge to the screen. Hope this helps a bit. East Coast Canada Rocks!
