It is amazing the difference box construction can have on the overall sound of a system. Size is only one factor. Using a larger sealed box may make the sub hit lower, but not necessarily louder. Because the TS-swx310 is a shallow mount woofer, it is designed to run in small enclosure. Putting it in a much larger box could potentially cause damage to the woofer over time. If you want more bass my advice is to use a normal woofer in a box built to spec for it. Generally a ported box will provide more output, and sealed hits tighter.
