Im getting ready to replace the convergence board IC's on my tv model # AV-56WP30 , what does the power resistor look like . and how do i check it to make sure that it is not bad ? is there more than one that should be checked ?

You can set your multimeter to ohm meter to measure the resistance so that you can compare it with the original value. The original value is determined by means of the color code on top of the resistor. The last band is tolerance or permissible error limit. The codes and their values can be found at the link below
