I'm installing 2 sticks of 1gb memory. i tried this a first time and my pc wouldn't start. i returned them for non-ecc and now i have the same prob. i've never installed memory before. is there certain steps?! assistance!please!

Dude make sure that the ram is compatible with your motherboard if u provide the details of the Mobo and the ram i can then tell u if its compatible.other than there can be only one prob ram not working
