Im trying to splice in more wire for a longer cord but i have a 3 plug in red white yellow and then a copper wire on the factory cord and then on my cord i have the same 3 wires but i do not have the copper wire on mine so do i leave it undone or what color would it go to

The copper wire is just an additional ground wire. You can leave it as it is or cut it off. It will not hurt anything if you cut it off. If it were mine I would cut the additional wire off.
