Ok my onkyo TX-DS787 works good on the direct listening mode but if I try to put it on stereo or THX or anything else other than the direct listening mode it won't play anything at all, I'd at least like to be able to listen to the stereo listening mode so I can adjust the bass and treble because in direst I am unable to do so please help

Try rebooting the microprocessors by unplugging it for about half an hour. Then plug it back in and see if it helps. I have an Onkyo that has given me trouble a couple of times and unplugging cured the problems. It's worth a try.
