Hi thanks for asking the problem here, is that your video card is bad you should replace it soon as possible because you will not be able to see anything on the monitor without the video card. You should open the computer take out the video card take it to a computer store and let them replace it with another one like it, one or one which is compatible with your computer once you install the new video card you will need to install the software that come with it and your monitor will be ready to use again.
IF my video card is bad, will older style monitors be able to work properly? because my big heavy older monitor, works just fine. Also am I going to have to order the power adapter online or can you give me some ideas as to what else would take this 12dc 3.5a adaptor?
Thank you,

The video card allow you to see everything on the monitor,it is a small card that fits into a slot on the motherboard usually motherboard have built in video card, but many people would buy video card and put in their computer to get better quality graphics so i am not sure which one you were using. When you open your computer look take a where you usually connect the monitor, you will see if its to the built in video card or if its to a video card that someone had put in the computer. Its very easy to tell the difference because if someone put in a video card it will be in a small slot on the motherboard separate from the other slots, and also i must tell you that there are two types of video cards (AGP and PCIe) AGP is use by older model computers its a small brown slot and should be the only small brown slot on your motherboard. If this is what you have then you must buy an AGP video card and put it in that slot if you have PCIe which mean( PCI express) is should be a green slot separate from the other slot on the motherboard if this is what your computer have then you will need to buy a PCIe card for the computer and make sure the card is firmly fitted into the slot and then install the drivers from the cd you will get with the video card. You don,t need to but any power adopter you can continue using the the same one you were using before unless something wrong with it, the monitor only works as an output device.
