Friends, Compaq Presario 700 PC Notebook's main problem is audio driver for win xp. For Audio driver software you can visit a link by just Click Here . For any other problems with this Notebook you can Click Here .
Check 2 things 1st microsoft universal audio is installed 2nd proper sound drivers are installed after Microsoft universal audio. then check for mic settings in audio properties...
Ok this could either be simple or complicated depending on what the actual problem is. Firstly if you have a sound icon on your windows taskbar (Bottom right beside the clock) double click it It will open the Volume control. Top left of this window, click on options and then click properties. look at the list below and make sure the microphone is checked, if its not then check it.
Now look at the volume control window and make sure that your microphone isnt muted, just uncheck the mute button set the volume half way and you are done.
If you dont have the sound icon on your taskbar, goto start then control panel, click on Sounds and Audio devices, Note if you dont see this then on the left hand side click on the classic view to show all control panel options.
Click on the volume tab, click advanced and then do the steps above to enable the mic
Then click on the audio tab Look down to where it says Sound recording and make sure it has a default device in there. that should fix the problem.
Now if you do this and you dont have a default device or no sound card then let me know and we will get the problem solved
