The bulb would get dim or loose sharpness, but not make a white line. I think the display component in the projector is getting stuck pixels. I have heard that you can sometimes resolve it by using a program to rapidly cycle through colors, but combined with the loss of resolution I would say that your probably seeing the beginning of a failing component. Unfortunately, it probably isn't worth replacing the tiny panel through which the lamp projects. If it is under warranty I would get it replaced.
changing inputs won't help because the problem is in the display. Remove the lamp and look at the projection component behind it. See if there is a short (loose or stripped wires) I was thinking it was stuck pixels, but looking at the picture and the fact you can touch it to fix the solution has me leaning more towards a short of some type. When you remount the lamp, make sure that it is secure in the rails and that the electrical components are making good contact as well.

Hello. If the Infocus connected to a PC when you get the horizontal white lines, it might be because the projector and PC are running at two different resolutions and that is also another reason why you lose the sharpness of the picture. If you lose the sharpness of the picture, the PC resolution is probably lower. Try to set the PC resolution to match the Infocus's native resolution. If the device rhas an SVGA resolution (800x600 pixels), your PC should also be set to 800x600 pixels.
If you still having the same problem after changing the resolution, try to reset it to factory defaults.
I meant the lamp housing assembly. You don't need anything for the adjustment. All you need to do is just to use your hand to rotate the lamp housing assembly. This will increase and decrease the brightness of the projector display.
If this does not take any effect, then you have to change the projector bulb.
Take care.

Hello,
adjust the projector from the part where the projector bulb is. If the display is not still sharp, then it means the projector bulb is weak.
You have to change the projector bulb to regain sharpness.
Good luck.
