InSinkErator Badger 5hp NOISY
2 YRS old - I reset it; I used allen wrench to try to unclog a clog - nothing in there! When I run it it RATTLES as if there are loose parts clanging around in there. What could that possibly be? If I felt free to run it with all that noise, I do think it runs fine/grinds things/does not clog. Help!

I had the same problem. I felt around and felt nothing in there like a spoon or whatever. I shined a flashlight down in there and couldn't see anything. I ran it again, and shined the flash light down there. Finally, I noticed a dime in the bottom. I couldn't feel it, couldn't see it on the first look, but as soon as I removed it, problem solved.
AMAZING! I have had the metal on metal sound for months and couldn't see anything in there. I even felt around ( power off!!!) and couldn't find anything. I was getting ready to replace it or at least take it all apart when I read your tip. THANK YOU! It took about three short bursts of running it before what was left of the the dime landed somewhere i could see it. I fished it out with tongs and problem solved!
If it were me I would remove the disposal, turn it upside down and see what comes out. Would I run it with something in it making a lot of noise? Absolutely not. If something is loose in it, it could harm the disposal.
I had the grinding sound, a shrilling noise. Then it jammed. I freed it with allen wrench and it started with the noise again. I checked with a flash light and found a small nail jammed inside. I was able to remove the nail. Everything works fine now. I also gave instructions, again, on keeping the drain catch in the drain at all times!
