Installed Amana 12000 BTU wall pack type airconditioner yesterday. How do I get machine not to turn off and on during operation? Do I set it to run automatic? If I set it "cool" low stetting at 69 degrees, the compressor will periodically shut off. I do not want it to do that, but to run continuosly

You definately want the compressor to shut on and off with the demand set by the thermostat. It is no different than a full size home split heating and cooling system. You set the thermostat for the temperature you want and then you let the system decide when to run the compressor
