Installed my VisionTek HD 5570 in my fairly new HP Windows 7 PC. Using DVI connection, the Starting Windows logo comes on, but then locks. I can hear the system continue to boot, but don't know why it's locking. Could it be that I've not completely removed the on-board NVIDIA adapters, even though I've disable it?

I'm not sure what you mean by adaptors but, if your not using the Nvidia software uninstall it and any adaptors you may be using. If you are using the DVI output, you will probably need ATI/AMD's DVI adaptor for sound. Try removing the Nvidia components and software and try your new card. If this doesn't work, you may have to uninstall the ATI software and try again. Make sure you have uninstalled all Nvidia and ATI software by checking "programs and features" after uninstall and restart. You should get all of your drivers, etc., from installation cd then, you an update your Catalyst Control Center and your VGA drivers at AMD's site. You will do a custom uninstall of prior CCC and VGA driver then, A custom install of new CCC and VGA driver. If you have questions let me know. this is AMD's site; http://support.amd.com/us/Pages/AMDSupportHub.aspx
I recommend that try to download the updated driver for the Video Card because I've encountered that kind of problem with my Sapphire ATI Radeon 6870, I've just downloaded the updated driver through the ATI website.
