Basic process:
Remove power to the computer. do not just turn it off, unplug it..
Open your computer case.
If you have a separate existing video card, remove it.
If not, examine your Video card. look for a physically matching slot on your motherboard.
To do things the right way, either use a grounding strap, or use the ESD wrap that the card came in to grasp the top of the card.
line up the card with the physically matching slot. Keeping it even with the slot, slowly press it in. If it encounters resistance, make sure no wires have gotten in the way. If it still won't go in, double check that the slot you are trying to put it in is the same size as the connector on the bottom of the card.
If it does go in, go ahead and press it in until it stops. put about 10-15lbs of pressure on it, screw it in. make sure one end is not "cocked up", first.
put the case cover back on.
hook the cable from your monitor to the correct connector on the back of the video card.
plug your system back in.
turn it on. if nothing appears on your monitor after 10 seconds, something is wrong; make sure your monitor is plugged into the card properly. you might want to open the case and verify the card is where it's supposed to be.
Try the power again.
It should be working. if its not, something is either wrong with A) The Video card B) the connection from the card to the motherboard or C) the connection from the card to the monitor.
If the monitor shows something, your card hardwar is installed properly. When your operating system finishes booting, software installation is needed.
I would need to know what Operating System you are running to provide software & Driver installation instructions. To give instructions on how to disable a built in Video card (if you did not remove a card earlier), I would need to know your Computer or motherboard Make & Model.
