If you are not techie, here are simple steps for you.
on the back of the wifi device - check the ip address, user name $ password.
Make sure outside cable is going to WAN (external world) port of your wifi device.
connect your computer/laptop to the wifi device (in LAN PORT =internal home network ,LAN PORT ON WIFI device) thru a ethernet cable.
PC- CONTROL PANEL- NETWORK CONNECTIONS-SEARCH FOR """"LOACL AREA CONNECTION ADAPTER""""- RIGHT CLICK- PROPERTIES - SELCET TCP/IP V4- CLICK PROPERTIES tab/box- SELCT "USE FOLLOWING IP ADDRES - If at the back of your device ip is 192.168.0.1 then you should take 192.168.0.2,increment by 1 and type it there, subnet mask will come on its own once u click in subnet box-- in DNS PART no need to change anything, SAVE IT.
Now enter the ip address in the browser (ip add which you see at the back of your wifi device) press ENTER it will ask for user name & password- TYPE the user name & pwd which u got from the back of the wifi device. & LOG IN.
Once your r in the router, go to network settings section & make a check mark ON DHCP/DHCP RELAY to make DHCP feature ON.
THEN GO TO THE WIRELESS section and give a SSID name -Anything u like and then under ""wireless security"" --TYPE OF SECURITY = WPA2/PSK- Assign/give a security password - NOTE DOWN THIS NEW PASSWORD YOU JUST ENETERED - you will need it.
save settings and logout of wifi device/router.
come to your computer while the cable is plugged in between both devices like computer-----wifi .
slightly different here- check carefully in the coming 2nd line with quotes.
PC- CONTROL PANEL- NETWORK CONNECTIONS-SEARCH FOR """"""WIFI ADAPTER""""""- RIGHT CLICK- PROPERTIES- SELCET TCP/IP V4- CLICK PROPERTIES tab/box-SELCT """""""ASSIGN IP ADDRES SAUTOMATICALY, ALSO SELCT DNS automatically""""""", SAVE IT.
NOW U WILL SEE WIRELSS ICON NEAR YOUR SYSTEM TIME, CLICK WIRELESS ICON - selct your wifi network name which you have given, CONNECT --- SECURITY BOX WILL APPEAR- ENETR THE SECURITY PASSWORD WHICH YOU NOTED DOWN, PROCEED FURTHER BY CLCIK CONNECT OR OK,
DONE - you are connected to your wifi and internet, now remove the cable between your PC/LAPTOP----WIFI device - u dont require it now- as ur connected wirelessly to the router, which in turn is connected to the internet.
