The model is DHD250-U2, and I purchased it in March 2005. The noise is almost a grinding sound. I had a computer-wise friend look at it, and he thinks the fan needs to be replaced. Have you heard of this problem? How difficult would it be to replace the fan (the case is very unique and difficult to remove), and would it actually fix it (if it is truly is the fan)?

I've had it out of commission because the noise was so obnoxiously loud, but I need to use it regularly now.

Any ideas/suggestions?
