ION TTUSB05XL - Poor sound quality
My previous (Onkyo) turnatable worked fine for 28 years before the motor failed. I bought the new ION, but the sound is distorted along with background noise. No it is not the record(33LP).
The components on the rest of the system are all Sony. The receiver/amp is a year old. There are audio jacks for phono on the receiver/amp.

The turntable has a built-in phono preamp so you don't want to run it through phono inputs in your receiver but just regular auxiliary inputs instead
Could you change brand of cartridge if u want to change it?
You need a magnitic phono cart.
