Ipurchsed a new CFcard 8 gb and then a 4gb and my marantz pdm670 does not recognize the cards, it says must format on pc, which I have done and it still gives me same mesaage
From stop press and hold the MARK/ EDIT button for about 2 seconds to enter Edit mode.
Renumber flashing in the display.
While the display is flashing (5 seconds) press and release the MARK/ EDIT button four more times.
FORMAT flashing in the display.
While FORMAT is flashing (5 seconds) press and release the ENTER button Play/pause.
FORMAT OK? flashing in the display.
The display asks you to confirm that you want to format the CF card. Formatting the CF card will erase all recordings on the card.
While FORMAT OK? is flashing press and release the ENTER button play/pause to confirm. (Or press and release the STOP button to cancel.)
That is how you would format it with the device, or format it with your computer with the use of a card reader, connect it to your machine open my computer or computer from either your desktop or from start menu.
Then right click on the removeable storage device and select format, set it to FAT32.
If the problem remains send me the exact brands and models of your new cards.

Have you tried using only the 8GB card in it? does it work with just the 8GB disk in there, how about just with the 4GB card in? Can you format the card with the recorder while only either one is connected?

The cards should work, unless they are special or another type that the recorder supports. Try a smaller one, compare the new ones to the old one(s)
