Irobot roomba discovery
My roomba discovery will not dock after cleaning.
I have set it out in the middle of the room, it doesn't matter if I select 'clean', 'max', or 'spot', it will not return to the base afterwards. It will even stop right in front of the home base.
I have tried programming it wilth the remote and setting its cleaning space as small(with the virtual walls) and it will still not retrun to the base.
If I manually press 'spot' and 'clean' it will return to the base as soon as it finds it with no problem at all.

Lol, i don't think its the IR ( infrared ), i think its a progamming problem, these are new generation vacume cleaners and have not been on the market that long, if yours is under a year old, have the manufacturer re-programme the iRobot for you or take it back to the shop you bought it from.
hope this helps
regards
The robot find the base thanks to an infra red sensor, if the robot does not get the base, it means that the infra red sensor is defective.
By the way your problem seems to be a common problem on roomba. One on three roomba cannot recognise the infra red signal from base, you have to manually dock it.
I quote from one of the many users having same problem.
"The Roomba Discovery comes with a home base charging unit that the robot
is supposed to automatically return to when it is done with a room or when
it needs to recharge. That has not worked for me at all: if I put it near
the base and tell it to return home, it will succesfully dock, but I have
yet to see it accomplish that on its own volition."
Probably the Roomba algorithm to determine if it has finished cleaning, and to find the way to the docking bay is not working very well, and it is influenced by environmental factors and conditions.
CLEAN THE CONTACTS OF YOUR REMOTE WITH CONTACT CLEANER, DONT FORGET TO REPLACE THE BATTERIES OF REMOTE, PROBLEM IS DEFINATLYIN THE REMOTE OF THE DEVICE.

And i m sure u wld solve this issue.
This is a common issue and after follwing the steps u wld be able to rectify this.
*********I hope i have taken care of all ur needs for today**************
Take cre Bro.
The Home Base sends out two infrared signals, one that allows Roomba to dock, and one that creates a barrier so that Roomba will not run into the dock while in normal cleaning mode. Roomba can sometimes get confused by these signals. To resolve the problem, try moving the Home Base to a different location in your home.
Good luck...
It seems the problem is in the remote of your device , change the battery then check or use different remote
Have u tried replacing the battery.if the battery is not supporting properly it stops the dock function.
