Irrigation pump will not prime resulting insufficient system pressure
I replaced irrigation pump because previous pump pressure was insufficient (motor continuously ran). Replacement pump was primed with approx. 50 psi pressure. When pump is started pressure drops to zero psi with insufficient water pressure. Irrigation system operates with minimal output. After multiple attempts in priming, I isolated discharge to check suction side for leaks. Suction side remains primed with 50 psi. No apparent leaks. Once pump is started, pressure drops to zero with same results. Not sure where or what problem is. Possible leak on suction side? Pressure tank not properly working? Really at a complete loss. Interesting note with replacement pump handbook stated if pump 2" suction reduced to 1.5" and discharge 1.5" reduced to 1.25" will result in reduced output and to contact utilitech. Holiday weekend shutdown consumer help until Monday.
