Is it possible to flush the coolant system and could this had happened due to the car using the orange antifreeze and when I bought more at auto zone I told the guy what I needed and ask was this orange he replied saying its universal u can use this. Could the problem have come from the 2differant antifreeze coolants? And will flushing it help due to the knock being like a bad motor knock?
Orange antifreeze is extended use antifreeze and usually can remain in a vehicle 4-5 years before flushing. Dexcool which is made by gm had a problem with coolant gumming up before the 4th year. Many people flushed it out and put regular green in. But then you must flush it out more often. That problem has sense been rectified. If you did not correctly bleed the air from the system before closing it up , that can cause over heating and possible knocking . If it wasn't doing it before the addition.. Have the system flushed and only use the orange that it came with ...Prestone orange is nothing but gm specified dexcool and works ok.
