Is my lexmark 5470 compatable to my va10 all in one computer?
I have a brand new sony VA10 all in one computer. I have a westell modem withh ethernet. I did everything that the instructions from the lexmark told me to do but when it get to the part where it says do you want to connec to your computer there where the problem is. Do i need another telephone connection since the lexmark 5470 has a fax or what? I am thinking about getting some other kind of printer. I have been working with this one for 12 hours straight with no results. I bought it in 2005. My VA10 computer is a 2008, I just got it. The printer has never been used. Cannot connect.

I am not sure what OS your new laptop is running, but I will assume it is Windows Vista if you purchased it in 2008. considering your printer is from 2005, you are not going to have Vista support on the software CD that came with the printer. The first thing you need to do is make sure you download the Vista level software for the device from the following location:
http://downloads.lexmark.com:80/perl/downloads/downloads.cgi?os_used=Windows%20Vista&mode=OS&ccs=229:1:0:549:0:0
Once you have this downloaded, run the Lexmark Uninstaller and install everything you have already tried to install and then reboot. Once you have rebooted the laptop, then install the new downloaded software and follow any instructions.
As far as another telephone connection, you should run your phone line into the device and most of these all-in-one devices have a line out to run another telephone line to the phone or modem.
Laptop or stand alone PC, it does not matter. You will still need the Window Vista version of the software that you can download from the link I mentioned. You need to uninstall all of the current Lexmark software, reboot, and then install the new Vista level software that was linked in my previous post.
