Is my tach broken?
I have just purchased an used 2006 with 1800 miles on it. Few days ago when I turned on the ignition and let it idle, I noticed that my tach needle is pointing below "0"! Motor starts up fine without any hesitation and Choke works fine too (needle goes up to 3000~4000rpm). When I open the throttle during the idle, the needle moves too. Just during the idle the needle points below "0".??? I first thought my idle is low... but idle is not rough and it seems fine in my opinion. Has anyone here encountered same problem? If so, how did you manage to fix it?

I have the same problem on my '05 monster 620. I hear it's very common. Upon calling my trustworthy mechanic (not the dealer), he informs me this is quite common. The glue holding the needles in place is apparently not the greatest, and moisture inside the instrument panel screws it all up. He recommended I take an engine speed meter, take apart the instrument panel, and glue the needle back in place at the appropriate reading for the engine speed. I haven't tried to do this yet as the rainy season just started, and I don't have a garage :/ Let me know if you have any success in this regard as I'm very interested in hearing about it.
