Hello. I am going to include the instructions in my response to you, for your reference. The answer to your question is a yes, with certain restrictions. If the space is a garage, no it must be 18" above the floor. If the floor is carpet, no, it must be at least 2 inches above the carpet. If the floor covering is combustile, you must be two inches above it. IF the floor is a noncombustible substance such as ceramic tile or concrete, you can sit the unit directly on the floor. All of that said, there are special noncombustible pads available wherever these units are sold that you can place on the combustible floor and THEN put the space heater on top of that.
