There are several variants of the F5U109. In my reading to get it working on my W7 system I came across references to units made by prolific, MCT and others, also sold under different brands (d-link, uniden, belkin) and of those using different chipsets (intel, philips...)
The proflic drivers can be found at prolifics website, the same goes for MCT. My unit is an MCT U232-d9 (I had to pull apart the case to be sure) and the latest driver at www.mct.com.tw supports windows 7, although nothing past OS10.3 and no intel on the mac side.There are several variants of the F5U109.
