Occasionally, a GPS unit will need to be reset. This can be due to software errors, firmware updates or simply at the command.
Hold the GPS firmly at arm level. This will help prevent striking the wrong keys as the keypad is very small. Locate the Light key. It can be identified by the icon of a light bulb on a green background. Press the Light key for approximately three to four seconds. This will initiate the quick power down sequence. When the sequence begins, release the Light key. Wait approximately one minute for the gps random on-board memory (ROM) to fully discharge. Press the green Light key to reactivate the GPS. Wait for the Garmin welcome screen.
