Check out the layer format which is suitable for your recorder. DVD+R or DVD-R..

If u have dvd +r then u need +r dvd if u user -r dvd its will not work if u have -r dvd then u shoud write dvd -r if u write on +r then it wont work
u have record on if u have dvd +r then u have to record +r dvd if u have -r dvd then record on -r then it will work
