I've recently found an old Elgin pocketwatch (Hunter Case, 1904?)
The old watch does not run, does not have a minute hand (did it have one?) and is still assembled though it looks like the back of the case was off sometime (the shield is sideways). The crystal is intact. The stem moves the hour hand when pulled out and turned. The stem rotates freely when in the neutral position. The stem does not turn clockwise when pressed in, but does make a ratcheting sound when turned counterclockwise. There is soemthing loose inside that rattles when shaken.

If you wish to return this watch to a working condition you need to find a skilled watch repairer who is willing to take on a challenge.
It could prove to be very expensive is parts have to be made to replace anything that is worn out or broken.
Good luck!
