Jensen VM9311TS i just installed the head unit, but i push the open button all it does is beep? my buddie had it in his car and it worked fine? did i hook it up wrong?

I have a jensen vm9311 and when i turn my car on it says mute and the screen wont open, does anyone know how to fix this?
Try pressing the reset button.
