John Lewis Fridge Freezer zer compartment is working, fridge light works, but the fridge is not working. Please help!
Calling all fridge experts! I've got this john lewis frost free fridge freezer JLSS1808 or JLFFW1807 - apologies for including two model numbers the manual lists both and I cant find the one that applies to this, although I'm sure both are very similar. Recently I went on holiday for a week and think I possibly left the freezer door slightly ajar. I discovered that that the fridge compartment was no longer working, although the freezer is working just fine. An added oddity is that the alarm isn't sounding, which I find weird. The alarm is supposed to sound for both fridge and freezer if the temperature has raised in either compartment to a certain level, and I know the alarm still works as it sounds for the freezer when the temperature rises. I've tried a number of things so far - played with all the settings the manual is surprisingly useless for a john lewis product; turned it on and off, unplugged the fridge from the mains for 4 hours and then turned on again. I saw one post of someone with the same fridge describing the same problem including no alarm sounding but sadly they didn't give any updates about what they tried and whether it was fixable. The only other advice I've read is to turn off for 24 hours which I'll do once I've eaten some of the freezer food. In the mean time I'd appreciate any advice, particularly if anyone knows about this fridge specifically a long shot I know. If the 24 hours turn off doesn't work then I'm happy to call someone out as I'd much prefer to try and fix, but it would be useful to know if anyone has any other tips at all. I would have thought the fridge and freezer were cooled by the same system so I'm surprised that the fridge has stopped but the freezer is still working. I assume therefore there might be 2 different systems? Clearly I'm no expert! I'd be so grateful for any help. Many thanks in advance, Rob

Leaving the freezer door open for extended period of time could have caused the evaporator to freeze up and prevent cold air being driven into refrig compartment. Unplugging it for 24 hours will give it a great chance to unfreeze. You can also check the freezer temps before you do this - bet they are no where close to the ideal of zero degrees since the ice buildup is an insulator and prevents the freezer compartment from going down to the correct temps. And if the freezer is not at least 10 degrees or less your ice maker, if you have one, will not work since it has a thermostat that only cycles the ice maker at 10 degrees or less.
You were talking Centigrade and I was thinking Fahrenheit. Your readings were ok. If still no improvement check the damper and/or fan that circulates the cold air from freezer to fridge.
I've been away and come back and the fridge is working! You are a star thanks for your help :)
