Juki ddl 8700-7 has loose (looped) bottom stitches every couple inches--what causes this?
Why does my juki ddl 8700-7 have looose (looped) bottom stitches every couple inches? I'm using medium to heavy weight material with size 14 needle. Was not having issues until just recently and was using the same material and needle size.

After you have checked that the thread is between the tension disks as the last gentleman suggested:
1. check to see if there is a burr on the end of your needle and that your needle is in straight. If your needle is not straight, the thread catches on its way down through the material.
2. Did you break a needle? If so, you may have a bad spot in the needle hole in your cover plate.
3. If that isn't it, lean your machine back and use a light to check to see if your hook has a rough spot on it from a broken needle. In both cases, you would need to buff out the nick to solve the problem. If you need to know how, you can send me a note and I will send you a picture.
4. Last but not least, check to see if there is a piece of lint caught in your bobbin case.
5. Although this machine is self oiling (check your oil level while you have it tipped backwards), I still put a drop of oil in my hook from time to time (dip your screwdriver down into your oil pan and put that one drop over on your hook and wipe off your screwdriver on a towel), Good Luck.
You will probably find you have not threaded BETWEEN the thread discs...or the thread has simply popped out of the threading discs.....with your presser foot in the down position.......feel the thread tension by pulling the thread...it should have resistance......if not...thread the thread between the tension discs.
