Jump and start unit is dead,how do I recharge this unit ? I have tried to recharge by plugging unit in at the ac plug and let it charge for several hours, what am I doing wrong ? How do I know when unit is fully charged and ready for use ?

These units have a meter on them that shows if it is full or dead. If it will not charge from an AC wall socket, the unit is probably no good. Check the charger that it comes with to make sure that it doesn't need to be reset. If it has no reset button, you may need to return it for an exchange.
To see if it not a bad battery try this..Turn your jumper on hook it, the jumper to the battery in your vehicle just as you would to jump it..start your vehicle and let it run for ten min or so..your alternator will charge it if it will take a charge...if this works your charging system on the jumper or charger is bad..to check your charger plug it in the wall then using a multi meter set it on 12 volt readings put your red + into the center of the plug and then touch the minus - to the side of the plug..you should see 12 volt being put out if the charger is ok..if it is not ok use the car charging system to keep the jumper battery topped off..when using it..good luck..
