Just bought the orginal xbox 2.4 Version and it came with a wireless Madcatz controller that came with a receiver. The controller isn't working. When I plugged the receiver in the light flashed green and the light on the controller flashes red but it still won't work

I used to recondition these for resale. In almost all cases, I recommend purchasing an original Xbox wired controller. Understood this is not wireless, however it will enable you to use the Xbox.
New or refurbished controllers are relatively inexpensive and can be purchased at Gamestop, Amazon or eBay.
