Just Bought Today ;(
I just bought a 1993 Acura Legend Today for 2,000. Seemed like a good buy; strong engine, 5spd manual trans w/ no vibrations or humming good shifting, incredibly clean inside and out, was a leased vehicle taken very good care of. Then later on today the same day that I purchased it from a wholesaler I noticed an engine noise that I hadn't previously and my heart sunk. How ever when I push in the clutch pedal it stops and when I let it back out again it starts up again, while the car is in neutral position. So I'm thinking that it is the throw out bearing or similar problem, but really depressing cause I just bought the car today. Any body out there had similar problem with their Legend? Nervous about the buy now, any help so greatly appreciated in gards to what the problem might be?

The problem is probably not the throwout bearing. Noise from throwout bearings act just the opposite, you only hear them when you push in the clutch pedal. Noise when the clutch pedal is released only is either a bad pilot bearing (probably oilite bushing) (the bearing/bushing in the middle of the flywheel that supports the transmission input shaft), or bad transmission bearings (will happen sometimes but is unlikely because in neutral, with the clutch pedal released, tranny bearings spin, but are not really under any load, but in some cases they might be the cause of the noise anyway)
